Shortly after an unexpected partnership announcement, we now have a first look at Virgil Abloh‘s Mercedes-Benz G-Class art design.
Mercedes-Benz Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener, who is working closely with Virgil on “Project Geländewagen,” took to Instagram to reveal scenes from the upcoming unique artistic model. The teasers reveal rough elements of the one-of-a-kind, home-scale replica including a light gray-white paint job, retro odometer and bright yellow tire details reading GELÄNDEWAGEN, the German word for SUV.
“Project Geländewagen” will be auctioned off later this year with proceeds donated to an as-yet-unnamed charity that supports the arts. Additionally, the winner of the auction will also receive exclusive access to the co-creators, and a personal introduction to the inspirations behind the artwork and the aspirations for it.
Following Wagener’s reveal, Virgil Abloh also took to Instagram to show off what appears to be an accompanying piece of merch that could be released alongside the reveal of his G-Class art piece.
Take a first look at Virgil Abloh’s Mercedes-Benz G-Class design below and look for the artwork to be digitally revealed September 8 via Mercedes-Benz’s website.
