LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Midwestern home improvement store chain will be opening its first Derby City location next week.

Menards, which is headquartered in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, announced Wednesday it will open a mega store at 9625 Preston Crossing Boulevard next Monday after announcing its plans for the store more than 40 months ago.

The store will be open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The store will feature a selection of lumber, roofing, siding, construction blocks, trusses, doors and windows, plus cabinets, appliances, countertops, flooring, lighting, paint, plumbing supplies and more, according to a news release.

“We appreciate all the community support we’ve experienced,” Louisville general manager Mike Hilfiker said in a statement. “We hired many of your friends and neighbors, and we’re excited to open the doors on Monday to show everyone what we’ve been working on!”

The Courier Journal reported in February 2017 that Menards applied to rezone a total of 33.8 acres on the east side of Preston Highway between Cooper Chapel Road and Maple Crossing Drive.

Menards currently operates 328 stores located throughout the Midwest, including one in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
