John Legend has given himself the “Green Light.” He and his fashion model wife Chrissy Teigen are “ready to go, right now.” The A-list couple just listed their seven-bedroom, high-fashion Beverly Hills mansion for nearly $24 million.
Considering the cash they’re both banking, it’s likely time for an upgrade (they’re expecting a third child, after all). The stylish, omnipresent couple are everywhere—commercials, red carpets, award ceremonies, benefits, tributes, talk shows, social media. One has to wonder, are they ever home anyway?
Teigen juggles her days as a mom, culinary influencer, author, model, TV host and no-holds-barred social media pugilist who fearlessly takes on all critics, including Twitter wars with President Donald Trump, random fans and fellow celebrities on politics, her “celebrity chef” title or whether the real estate agents of Selling Sunset are the real deal.
Legend is an award-dominating musician, producer, and proud social justice advocate. He’s the go-to performer at big events—Super Bowl, Academy Awards, World Cup, Nobel Prize events, Global Citizen Festival, you name it. The soul singer has won a Golden Globe, American Music Award, as well as two Emmys, 11 Grammys, an Oscar and a Tony (he’s a member of the prestigious EGOT Club).
His mantle also showcases awards from the NAACP, MTV, and Salem Advocate for Social Justice. So losing his Beverly Hills trophy home won’t be a burden (for 24 million reasons). The crooner just sang his Oscar-winning song “Glory” in another elaborately staged performance (full choir, mood lighting, candles) during the Democratic Convention.
His listed home is expertly staged as well, anchored by a gorgeous plum-colored piano. By day, interiors are a fusion of natural-light illumination, open spaces, and eclectic design—mandala-patterned ceilings from Thailand, ebonized cerused oak floors, clay and steel-rolled walls, onyx sinks, and Italian quartz countertops. By night, the mood evokes a Zen piano bar, basking in a dimly-lit gilded glow.
The estate’s parlor entry welcomes with towering 33-foot-high ceilings and a sculptural staircase leading to a monumental living room with a soaring brass fireplace flue, triple-height picture windows and sweeping canyon views.
The chef’s kitchen is where the couple perfected family recipes featured in Teigen’s best-selling cookbooks. Oak cabinets and a two-toned, bi-level island are familiar backdrops on her popular Cravings site, where even Legend touts his chicken recipes.
All seven bedrooms offer balconies and en-suite baths. The opulent master bedroom has a striking brass, concrete and clay fireplace as well as an Italian-inspired “Glam Room” and dressing room. The master bath boasts twin shower heads, a shower wall, floating vanity, and a standalone fashion tub.
The residence also features a cozy, sound-proof home movie theater, beauty salon, and fully-outfitted gym.
The backyard relaxes with a heated saltwater pool, jacuzzi, wood-burning oven, chef’s grill, kid’s playhouse, and Tuscany-like canyon views. A pergola wrapped in vines from the couple’s vineyard invites al fresco entertaining. Marshall Peck of Douglas Elliman holds the listing for the estate.
One thing’s for sure, we haven’t heard the last from Legend and Teigen—in music, the kitchen or real estate. That’s something that “Everybody Knows.”
